Yes, drop-off is free. But renting a truck, finding helping hands to haul the mattress, and navigating the complicated recycling center ecosystem? Not so much. You'll have to find a California state-approved MRC (mattress recycling center), and unfortunately if you have other junk that needs to be removed, you'll have to go from there to a completely different location.
